The last of the Town of Windsor-sponsored concerts features the “real deal” zydeco band from Lafayette, Louisiana. On Thursday, August 5th Summer Nights on the Green presents Nathan and the Zydeco Cha Chas, one of the most entertaining and in-demand Creole Zydeco bands from down Louisiana way. Nathan Williams plays zydeco, the fast and furious accordion-driven dance music of the Creole people of south Louisiana, a relatively modern style that emerged after the Second World War. With its trademark rubboard percussion, electric guitars and R&B influences, zydeco is distinct from the fiddle-driven music of neighboring Cajuns. “Come on down” and join us for a guaranteed dancing great time! No admission charged. (Windsor Farmers Market will sponsor the final three concerts of the summer.)
Lawn games for children and families begin at 5:00 p.m. along with Windsor's Certified Farmers Market. Free parking is available at Windsor High School (8695 Windsor Road); however, no shuttle service is available. Free bicycle valet parking continues to be available on Windsor Town Green. Presented by the Town of Windsor's Parks and Recreation Department, the event is free and open to the public. To get to Windsor Town Green, take the Central Windsor exit; west on Old Redwood Highway; straight on Windsor River Road; right on Market Street.
