McLaren's Peach Crisp

Makes an 8" x 8" pan

From the California Farmer - A Taste of California. The McLaren operation makes true Scottish shortbread in Santa Clarita. This recipe comes from Andrea and is truly a lovely dish of peaches! This recipe makes an 8' x 8' pan ... the McLaren's usually double the recipe, because their family loves it so much!

PEACH MIXTURE:

  • 4 C. fresh peaches, peeled and sliced
  • 2 T. flour
  • 1/4 C. brown sugar
  • 1/4 t. ground cinnamon

TOPPING:

  • 3/4 C. brown sugar, packed
  • 1/2 C. flour
  • 1/2 C. oats
  • 1/3 C. butter
  • 3/4 t. ground cinnamon
  • 3/4 t. ground nutmeg, or freshly 1/2 t. freshly grated

Preheat oven to 375 degrees. Grease baking dish – glass or ceramic is best. Mix dry ingredients and sprinkle over the sliced peaches; stir gently. Place mixture in baking dish in an even layer.

In a separate bowl, mix dry ingredients. Melt butter; pour into dry ingredients and mix well. Sprinkle over top of peaches. Bake about 30 minutes, until topping is golden-brown.

Serve warm with fresh whipped cream, ice cream or by itself. This dish is also good cold the next day!
