See The Photos From The Event

The market is full of Fresh Strawberries, Cherries, White Peaches and Nectarines – just perfect for Smoothies. With fresh yogurt from Jane’s Handmade Pantry and fresh milk from Clover-Stornetta Dairies, the kids turned out the freshest smoothies on the planet.

The “Kidz Dig It Club” shopped the farmers market for the best spring had to offer in fruits. Then they put on their “Soda Jerk” hats that they have decorated, and became instant “Soda Jerks.”

Just what is a Soda Jerk, you say? Well, in the 1920’s, 30’s 40’s and even 50”s, the job as a Soda Jerk was the most prestigious job you could hold in a drug store. Most Drug stores in those days had soda fountains and were not only a pharmacy for humans, but for animals too and in some small towns wallpaper and paints were part of the inventory. Before becoming a Soda Jerk, you had to mop floors, stock shelves, and wash windows. The name Soda Jerk came from the jerking motion of the soda machine. And the employee running that machine had to be precise with just the right jerk.

Come to the Windsor Certified Farmers Market all summer long for the freshest in fruits and vegetables that will give the family Smoothies all Summer long.

Don’t you just wonder what the future has to offer for the next generation of kids and their Smoothies? The Vitamix Machine could become a collectible.
